Client Background
A French artisan food producer, renowned for its cold-pressed olive and sunflower oils, sought to expand its retail business through premium packaging. They required custom cooking oil containers in 500 ml and 800 ml dark green glass bottles—designed to protect the oil from UV light—with a vintage logo printed on each container. They chose Minghang for our expertise in manufacturing durable, food-grade cooking oil containers that embody their “authentic, high-quality” brand philosophy.
Our Challenges
There were many major issues in the prototype: the oil leaked when the flip-top lid was tilted, the bubbles formed in dark green glass (reducing the premium appeal of the product), and the people printed when the bottle smiled. These defects can damage the reputation of the brand, as French consumers usually combine high quality oils with reliable, aesthetically pleasing containers.
Root Cause Analysis
Our team identified several issues: oil leakage stemmed from a loose silicone gasket (with a 0.3mm gap) in the flip-top mechanism; bubbles formed in the glass due to uneven heating during the molding process; and the logo was blurred and inadherent due to the use of water-based ink on unprimed glass.
Our Solution
To repair the cooking oil containers, we replaced the original gaskets with thicker (0.5mm) food-grade silicone gaskets and conducted leak tests on 40 pcs samples. We recalibrated the glass furnace to ensure stable heating and eliminate bubbles. For the logo, We reorganized the glass furnace to ensure stable heating and eliminate bubbles. Result
The final cooking oil containers met all the standards: the cap was leak-proof, the glass was bubble-free, and the logo was smoked. We distributed 30,000 pcs (20,000 pcs 500 ml and 10,000 pcs 800 ml) on time. The retail line achieved a 35% sell-through rate in its first month, with the customer stating, "Minghang's cooking oil containers perfectly embody the essence of our brand—customers trust the quality the moment they see the bottle."
